B.I.G.G LOVE:-))

Don't you just hate how the media refers to women that are not Victoria Beckham's size as plus size. I cannot stand it especially when the fashion scene makes big beautiful women feel like freaks of nature!!

I used to absolutely hate it when I went to some events and I bumped into people I hadn't seen in a while and the first thing they'd tell me was how fat I'd gotten!?Usually i'd ask myself errr, who died and made you the weight police?..then I'd want to take a shoe, gorge their eyes out and feed them to hungry lions in some jungle somewhere(gory, i know..alot goes on in my mind) but then again, after a shot of something (usually strong and alcoholic)I'd think to myself, hold on a minute..it's not their fault, i HAVE gained weight since they last saw me and it's ok!There's no rule against it!
Everything lies in accepting yourself for who you are and knowing that you have the power to change if you truly wanted to.
I know it's been said like a million times, but i cannot over emphasize enough just how BIG REALLY IS BEAUTIFUL!! a plus sized woman can look good in anything, despite all the myths that surround the industry on plus size dressing(such as a plus size woman cannot rock skinny jeans!!...MYTH!!!)..all u need is the knowledge of how to put http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif
this top with that skirt, what colour suits you best, experiment with this style and that style..it's always good to try out new things..the only thing that's permanent is change right?...in the words of Tim gunn..".MAKE IT WORK PEOPLE!!!"

we all come in different shapes and sizes and there is really no right shape or size so DO YOU whatever shape or size you are AND BE FRIGGIN HAPPY!!!LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO LET PEOPLE DEFINE HOW YOU LIVE IT!

LOVE YOURSELF AND EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FALL INTO PLACE!!!TRUSST ME!...xoxo!

WHEN IN DOUBT..LEGG IT UP!!

Leggings have been around for ages but they have recently been revamped to look edgier and modern, but wearing them can be quite intimidating...and a few of you ladies have embraced this trend but in a very fashion no-no way, so here are a couple of tips to help you wear them in a flattering way: 1. Wear leggings in black or neutral colours.Black being the best because you can pair them with virtually anything. brown and gray are also very good whEn it comes to pairing up with other items while women with an eye for fashion have tried the multi-coloured legging look but its best not to go to colour crazy.

2. Do not wear leggings as trousers especially if you have jiggly assets(for lack of a better term).

3. Ballet flats or super cute doll shoes look reallly good with this look but avoid the best you can pairing leggings with stillettos...if you feel like you need to wear high shoes, cute wedges would be a great alternative.

4.During the cold season pairing leggings with flat boots is very trendy...just dont wear those fully sharp pointed boots cos that's a sure way to murder the leggings look (and that look is very two thousand and late)...trade in your sharp pointy boots for cow boy boots or some desert boots instead. 5. Metallic leggings look great for a night out in the town..at this point you can pair them up with a sassy pair of heels to bring your diva out.
Wet look leggings named so for the watery look they have are a great ensemble for a party or mad rave . ..and shimmery leggings add a fun element to dressing up for a party and they are great if you want to make a fashion statement.Images from google.

Sheila Mwanyigha 'FROM SAFARIBOOTS TO LOUBOUTINS'

one week of anticipation, 5 total changes of outfits prior to the interview, an hour in the crazy Nairobi traffic, one very angry waitress(.....really long story), crazy security check at Nation centre, one second of being star struck upon meeting Sheila Mwanyigha(yup! you heard it right!) ...and here we are and I can honestly say it was worth it. It’s really hard to imagine this beautiful beauuuutiful woman who exudes fabulosity in every way possible once wore safariboots to class!! Thank God she saw the light at the end of the fashion tunnel and changed her ways…a very welcome development if you ask me, from safari boots to louboutins , Kurt Geiger and Isaac Mizrahi shoes to the Fendi bags and Burberry sunglasses…that’s not even development...that’s a re-birth !!

From to...

She is a presenter, a daughter, a sister, a friend , a hard worker and best of all, she is very grateful for life, most people do not realize what a blessing life is, simple tasks such as talking , smiling, wiggling your toes, BREATHING, all owing to the accident she experienced a few years back . What I will remember the most from the interview though, was her bubbliness(I’m working on making this a word but I’m sensing that I’m failing miserably) I mean seriously though..she’s a ray of sunshine…no more like 15 rays of sunshine and such a pleasure to be around we had tonnes of fun with her.

She loves cartoons and she’s such a happy person so its easy to make her laugh..infact , while we were at the studio Batman and Robin was on and she lit up like a fat kid in a candy store..it was so adorable . She loves to read, although currently she has all her school work to keep her busy having gone back to school to pursue her Masters and she is SINGLE!!(out of choice of course so fellas….wink, wink)

Here’s some more stuff that you probably did not know about her:

Best beauty tips I’ve learnt over the years is: always drink water…and never bleach your skin!
My favorite item in my wardrobe right now is:I’ve just celebrated a birthday so I got tones of shoes.. My shoes! It’s love, love, LOVE!(louboutins, kurt Geiger and Isaac Mizrahi's)

In my i-pod you’ll find: I’m listening to so many things right now but I’m really liking John West’s -right here, California king bed- Rihanna, Katie B- easy please me, Chris Brown-beautiful people, some Christina Perry, o yeah and jeniffer lopez featuring pitbull..it’s really old but it makes sense now.

My guilty pleasure is: Tequilla Rose’. It’s so yummy to indulge in but then the morning after you’re like never ever a

A perfect day for me is: well, a perfect day would be to wake up with Keanu Reeves, but realistically, waking up from bed having slept for 8 hours cos now I sleep for 6, so a perfect day would be to wake up at 6:15, not 5:15, and I’ve finished all my school work, sitting down to eat breakfast at the table, get to work , finish work, get on a jet plane to Mombasa for dinner and come back.

If I had a super power it would be: oh please don’t give me one! I want many! I wanna be invisible, I wanna fly ,I wanna be super convincing with my mind I want to look at you and tell you ‘you want to do that’, I want to be strong, and I want to be able to make diamonds with my hands like what Clark Kent(from smallville) can do ..yeah pretty much!

The best advice I’ve been given is: Never, ever, ever, EVER ! believe the hype cos that’s exactly what it is..the truth is for everybody who you look up to, at the end of the day we go home, take our shoes off, we’ve got cellulite, we’ve got issues , disappointments, and we’ve let down people miserably..not just fans but our families and friends as well and we’re all tryi

Your Vaseline endorsement: Was for a period of time and there’s talks of renewing it but we’ll see how things

The TPF hosting job: This is not TPF..this is tusker all stars, I host the TPF shows and it’s totally different. It’s a different production house and I get hired by a South African outfit to host the show and TPF is coming back I think in August so you guys should look out for it.

I would tell my 21 year old self to: HAVE FUN! But not to the extent when that’s all you know because the blocks that you’re putting in place now are what you’re going to build whatever it is you want to build when you’re 30 and you’ll either regret it or you’ll love it.

She’s pretty amazing huh?...we thought you’d thi

Kinanda festival

Considering how difficult it is to make it in the music industry ,let alone be taken seriously, I am really glad that an effort is being made to provide artists a platform to display their talent, so much so, to people who actually appreciate this talent. Its extremely paramount that we create forums where artists are able to display their works publicly thereby creating an atmosphere and culture where artistry is accepted and embraced, such a forum as I discovered is the kinanda festival, a monthly event that seeks to do just that. This month's edition was held at the kifaru gardens and its an amazing place to be. If you love music, love to mingle and meet new people with interest similar to yours ..and maybe a great place to set the ball rolling on your love life(..wink,wink, nudge, nudge)and regardless of the heavy downpour that bombarded us that day.. I had an awesome time discovering new bands. The festival also gave me an opportunity to hear musicians I have always wanted to hear play live (one Dempsey Omwenga’s voice is to DIE FOR!the first time I heard him on radio I seriously thought it was John Legend.. he is that amazing!) I'm really glad I got to hear him sing.
Nina Ogot was also very impressive .What I loved about her is that she was very interactive n involved the audience in her singing.. her ‘dala’ rendition was particularly fun to listen to. Of course Aziza did not disappoint with their harmonizing, fusing together cultural elements of music and modern ones..the violin was a nice touch.

This was also a chance for me to hang out with old friends:
Marcus Olang(One Fm breakfast presenter) Enos of Aziza band

Wambui and Brian of Elani and a friend, Maureen.

I definitely had a grand ol' time. I can honestly say that after attending this month's festival I don’t see how I'll ever miss another one..You guys should definitely check it out.I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did.(oh n entrance is 200 bob ONLY!)

Here are more pics of fabulous people in attendance

Gathoni Mutua caught my eye with her fancy earings

marcus olang' definately has a way with the ladies....

GUESS WHO'S BAAAACK?!!!!

Oh what a difference 6 years make!..Remember Jamani?
He was on the cusp of hip hop stardom, riding high in the wave of his lyrical hits such as haters, kiswahili, among others. Clearly he has established himself as a notable presence in the Kenyan hip hop scene and the success from previous hits has clearly defined his skill and has made him a kenyan popularizing figure and now.. he is BAAACK!
Picking up where he left off. He continues his evolution from local hip hop star to a well polished star with his single:" Munene", that I absolutely love.He sets the tone as he makes a play to regain his old fans while acquiring new ones.

Well...cos we are cool lyk that, here are some exclusive behind the scene pics from his video shoot which was themed old skool..a very fresh concept if i might add.. and I honestly can't wait to see what he comes up with next. He is a breathe of fresh air...hope you share the same sentiments...J'mani much love and support from Uhidaya
